ALL MY NIGHTS ARE MOONLESS WITHOUT YOU
Do you remember when we made it our third companion? The moon
Rafted us over the sultry Porunai waters, begging for a place in our game.
Only to run, abashed by the light that haloed our pupils.
Like wine does to nomads,
Poetry does to romantics,
Passion does to celibates,
Thou rendered me weak, but
I contained greed with my resolve,
A composure that resisted all, but thy untamed flirt.
Perhaps you felt the same, and favoured losing control once in a while:
Though a veil hung between us, I felt your shadow roving my hair in love.
Roses at their bloom of youth and vagrants with amorous eyes, languished at the
Fall of my sight. Red affliction intoxicated my skin,
Stained my lips with what you praised as honey.
We recited our desire with patience, and
God blessed us with a gentle rain.
As you left, you took the Almighty’s gifts with you.
Hallowed rains only bless fortunate lovers,
The skies scorch my ribs, and have burnt my roses.
Like mighty war drums, life clanks about my vessel.
Like billowing winds tremble blue water lilies,
Fleeting memories sway this heavy heart.
Tonight is moonless; There is no occasion to celebrate, no treats to taste, and no delights to rejoice in.
